Birdsville

WOW what an awesome day we had. Driving along towards Birdsville the flood plains were covered in small yellow flowers and while the Emus were enjoying the waterholes. We again had about approx 60 km out of 196km of dirt and gravel. Got to quaint little town of Birdsville. Very unexpected to what we saw because we thought it was smaller than what it is. The information centre was an eye opener. The centre has the best display of history of the town. We saw a lot of history places like old hotel ruins, old hospital Burke and Wills tree and Diamantina River. The bakery is now closed but the original owner which he was born in 1948 built it from Galvanised Iron and timber which he bought in by camel train. We then went to the Birdsville hotel and the most delicious burger and chips with beer. From there we went to Big Red. Disappointed I was expecting something a little bit different but enjoyed it. Also saw some artesian bores. This metal arch covered in shoes and little further along the road someone decided to empty there house out in the outback. Today was very enjoyable and another tick off the bucket list.
